To understand what a low magnesium spiral is we first need to understand what magnesium is.
Magnesium is a mineral found in the earth, sea, plants, animals and humans.
A little over half of the magnesium in your body is found in bones, while the rest is in muscles, soft tissues and fluids.
Many studies have show that low magnesium causes an increased amount of inflammation in the body.
This is an issue with the adrenal glands because they are the anti-inflammatory glands of the body.
As a result, they must work harder to bring the inflammation down. This creates adrenal stress, which in some cases can lead to adrenal fatigue.
Too much stress on the adrenals can cause, anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, food cravings, pain, belly fat and irritability.
In addition, this increase in adrenal stress can create further chemical reactions in the body that will create a worsening of the magnesium deficiency.
This is where the downward spiral of magnesium comes into play.
As the magnesium levels get lower the inflammation increases creating more adrenal stress, which further reduces magnesium levels.
This vicious downward spiral can go on and on and on.
Now add everyday stress in the picture and here comes the anxiety, burned out sensation, so on and so forth. The downward spiral has now kicked into high gear.
Dietary factors that deplete magnesium include processed foods, caffeine, alcohol and sugar.
So, what can we do about this downward spiral? A great way to get magnesium into your diet is by adding the following foods:
Nuts that are particularly high in magnesium include almonds and Brazil nuts. Brazil nuts are also extremely high in selenium. Make sure that you soak the nuts overnight.
Salmon is loaded with magnesium and is rich in potassium, selenium, and B vitamins.
Legumes are very rich magnesium, potassium and iron. They are a major source of protein for vegetarians.
Bananas are rich in magnesium and provide vitamin C, vitamin B6, and potassium
Leafy greens, such as spinach, kale, and turnip greens, are are loaded with magnesium.
Avocados are a great source of magnesium and high in potassium, B vitamins and vitamin K.
Dark chocolate is rich in magnesium and loaded with antioxidants
You can also use magnesium flakes when bathing and take magnesium taurine as a supplement.
For a person to lose weight and truly be healthy they have to identify the Root Cause to their weight & health problem.
