First off, what is intermittent fasting, who are the 3 People that Should NEVER do intermittent fasting and why is it important to embark upon lymph cleansing when you begin intermittent fasting?

Simply put, intermittent fasting is an eating program where you eat high quality foods for 4 to 8 hours each day and fast for the remainder of the day.  An 8 hour eating window seems to be the best for most people.

When you begin intermittent fasting your body will break down fat and excrete some of it through the lymphatic system.  If the lymphatic system and/or liver is congested, it will make it harder to remove the fat from the body potentially slowing weight loss.

So the combo of lymph cleansing and intermittent fasting is crucial for some.

What are the researched benefits for this type of eating program?

  • Increases insulin sensitivity.  Insulin is the most powerful fat storing hormone that your body makes.  When you increase insulin sensitivity you improve it’s ability to work, which means you need less of it.  Have less, of the most powerful fat storing hormone in your body, is indeed a very good thing.
  • Reduces your risk of chronic disease from diabetes to heart disease and possibly cancer as well.
  • Increases ghrelin levels.  When ghrelin goes low you get hungry, sometimes VERY hungry or even hangry.   Increasing ghrelin helps to reduce hunger.
  • Increases your body’s ability to burn fat and use it for energy.  Less fat is usually a good thing 🙂
  • It decreases triglycerides, which could decrease your risk of heart disease.
  • It decreases inflammation, which is good for anyone that has any type of nagging ache or pain.
  • It decreases your risk of metabolic disease.  Metabolic disease, also known as syndrome X, is a condition where a person becomes pre-diabetic, develops high blood pressure, lots of belly fat and elevated triglycerides.  Definitely NOT a good thing!

What happens if I try intermittent fasting but it doesn’t work?

This usually indicates a problem with your adrenal glands.  The adrenals maintain blood sugar in between meals.  If the adrenals are weak they can’t maintain adequate blood sugar.  This can have a negative effect on energy, sleep, mood, emotions, stomach pain and joint pain.  Click Here to Learn More About The Most Common Symptoms of and Natural Solutions for Adrenal Fatigue

The importance of Lymph Cleansing during intermittent fasting.  When you apply intermittent fasting your body will break down fat and excrete some of it through the lymphatic system, which ultimately exits the body via the stool.  If the lymphatic system and/or liver is congested, it will make it harder to remove the fat from the body potentially slowing weight loss.

Steps for Cleansing the Liver and Lymphatic System While Utilizing Intermittent Fasting.

  1. Immediately after you wake up use a natural bristle brush, preferably from boar’s hair  like this one and dry brush your body.   For information on how to dry brush to improve weight loss and lymphatic cleansing click here
  2. After you shower take 1/3 of an organic lemon and squeeze it in water along with a teaspoon of raw, organic apple cider vinegar.  This flushes the liver and will acidify the gut, which is needed for proper digestion and motility.  An acid gut speeds things up and moves the bowels and an alkaline gut slows the bowels down and contributes to constipation.  A large portion of the intestinal track is acidic so we want to encourage that natural state. If you suffer from gastritis, stomach or duodenal ulcers don’t use the lemon and apple cider vinegar.  Instead, have one large glass of clean water to flush the liver and kidneys and take a probiotic that is in a delayed release capsule made from hydroxypropylmethylcellulose like this one or one of your favorites is perfectly ok.  Avoid delayed release capsules made from phthalates.  Phthalates are endocrine disruptors that can prevent weight loss and possibly cause health issues.
  3. Start your eating time period with one blended Lymph Cleanse drink.  This really kick starts the lymphatic system and your metabolism.strawberry heart smoothie
