Our adrenals are essential to our body. They help us focus, concentrate, they play a role in our sleep cycle, they help us combat stress, help our mood stay strong and help us burn fat.
So, how do we clean the adrenals?
There are various ways to clean and feed the various organs and glands in our body. When we’re looking to clean the adrenals we want to do things that help to raise glutathione levels.
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals in your body. When more free radicals exist than antioxidants, oxidative cell damage occurs. This can lead to problems for our bodies including inflammation, lowered immune system, joint pain, brain fog, and fatigue.
Foods like kale, cauliflower, broccoli, bok choy or Brussels sprouts are great to add to your diet because these vegetables contain sulfur which helps raise glutathione. Other foods to use are parsley, garlic and onions.
In addition to that we need Whole Food forms of vitamin C such as bell peppers and kiwi. I tend to avoid citrus fruits when dealing with the adrenals as the sugar content can sometimes be too high.
There is a study that showed using 500 mg of vitamin C a day raised the red blood cell glutathione levels by 47%.
In my opinion you don’t just have thee ascorbic acid you have the bioflavonoids with it. I recommend 500 mg of ascorbic acid and 500 mg of bioflavonoids that way there is balance.Â
Getting adequate amounts of selenium will also raise glutathione. Two great ways to do that is by adding Brazil nuts and organ meats, like heart and liver, to your diet.Â
If you do at least one of the above foods once a day, you can even switch them up, you will raise your glutathione levels and clean your adrenals.
