Did you know that you can drink 100 ounces of water a day and still be dehydrated? Electrolytes are minerals that help to provide energy for our bodies and help pull water into your cell. Dehydrations sometimes occurs from there simply not being enough water in the cell itself. We need to get the water from the spaces between the cells into the cells and electrolytes help us accomplish this task.
Symptoms of Electrolyte Deficiency:
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Poor sleep
- Muscles cramps
- Restless legs
- Nausea
- Feeling like you need to drag your body around
- Poor concentration
- Irritability
For those of you that want to keep your family nice and hydrated this summer and want a natural, hydrating, delicious drink, I have just the thing for you. Dr. Rob’s Homemade Hydrating Summertime Electrolyte Drink.
- 6 cups water
- 1 cucumber
- 1 lemon
- 2 oranges
- 1/3 cup of mint
- 1 pinch of Himalayan salt
Slice the cucumber, 1 orange and the lemon very thinly and place in the container. Squeeze the juice of the other orange into the container and include the already squeezed pulp and rind in the container. Add the mint and Himalayan salt and fill the container with good quality filtered water. Let sit overnight in the refrigerator.
Drink 6 cups per day during hot weather. I will fill up a large glass container that has a spicket at the bottom and my family and I can drink from that for a couple days.
I recommend almost everyone take a good absorbable mineral supplement during the hotter weather. The big thing with minerals is they have to be absorbable. Some of the minerals out there today contain lead and are made basically from rock. Rocks are cool to climb, if you are into that type of thing, but are not so great to help the human body.
