If I had to sum up the emotional components associated with adrenal fatigue it would be with this one sentence…. I can’t handle….
Now what do I mean by, ” I can’t handle…”? I mean you don’t respond to the stresses of life the way you used to.
You might feel overwhelmed. Like the amount of tasks that you need to complete today are just too much and you don’t know how you will accomplish everything.
The little things can get on your nerves. You may scream at your spouse or your kids more. You just aren’t your normal self. Your tolerance for stupidity might be pretty low and don’t even get me started on trying to drive behind someone that’s driving too slow when you are in a rush to get somewhere… Lol
Your brain might feel scattered. You might not know if you’re coming or going. It might be hard for you to decide what to do first or where to even start your day.
You have food cravings for salty, crunchy foods, or fatty foods.
You wake up between 2:00 am and 3:00 am and you have a hard time falling back to sleep. You might wake up tired, after lunch you crash, then your body wakes up of an evening.
You may experience pain and inflammation. Something just hurts. The adrenal glands are the anti-inflammatory glands of the body. When the adrenal glands are weak the typical pain and inflammation can’t be handled by the adrenals.
You may have anxiety or depression. When the body experiences too much stress it depletes the adrenals of cortisol, which is the stress hormone of the body.
The motions of life are just harder for you to experience and to handle. There is a reason for this and you need to find the root cause to these symptoms to turn the “I can’t” into “I can!”
Much Love,
Dr. Rob
