What does floating poop mean and is floating poop something to be concerned about?
Well, floating poop could mean a varitey of things and in this video I cover the 7 diseases that will cause floating poop.
Before we investigate floating poop and why it floats, we need to ask ourselves, “Is there such a thing as a normal bowel movement?” Well, the answer to that question is definitely YES!
Here are the characteristics of a normal bowel movement:
Brown colored stool
Well formed–one solid log
Sinks right to the bottom
Not too strong of a smell
No obvious undigested food in it
Minimum of 1 bowel movement per day
If you have a stool that is different then the above you can assume that there is something off in your body.
Now, I don’t mean that you have a disease, although you may, I mean that there is something off.
There is a malfunction somewhere that needs to be addressed. I had a patient tell me once that she had about 1 bowel movement a week and I had another one tell me that she had about 7 to 8 bowel movements a day. Either extreme is definitely bad and would require further investigation.
Also, it’s important to understand what each type of stool can mean. If your stool floats it may mean one thing, if you are pooping rabbit pellets that can mean an entirely different thing.
The primary focus of today’s video is floating poop. What does it mean if your poop or more formally stool floats? Watch the above video and find out.
