A few key nutrients for thyroid function would be:

Iodine is needed for the formation of T4 also known as thyroxine or thyroid hormone.  T4 is relatively inactive in the body and must be converted to T3 in the liver.

Selenium is an important trace mineral that helps to convert your T4 to T3, which is the active thyroid hormone that helps us lose weight and get healthy.  Selenium is high in Brazil nuts.

Tyrosine, an amino acid, combines with iodine to make thyroid hormone.
